William Woods University is a liberal arts university with undergraduate and graduate degree programs including the first 4 year Equestrian Science degree program. At William Woods the students benefit from the small number of students to faculty ratio. In 2005 William Woods was named one of the best colleges in America. Westminster college is also located in Fulton and is a liberal arts college that has over 20 majors and 30 minors to choose from. At Westminster the faculty is devoted to a well-rounded education as well as personal interaction between faculty and students, which contribute to an excellent education.
There are several medical facilities - Callaway Community Hospital and Fulton State Hospital located in Fulton as well as the Callaway County Ambulance District. These also make up one of the major employment opportunities in the area. Dollar General has a distribution center located in Fulton and is another major employer.
